Frequently Asked Questions

Can we meet the sitter before we decide to book?

Absolutely! In fact we insist on meeting each new client before we lock in the booking. We want to be sure that we’re a good match for your needs.

What happens if my sitter becomes ill or has an emergency & can’t care for my pet?

We have a “Dream Team” of pet sitters here at North Dallas Pet Care. Should your sitter need to step away from seeing to your pet’s needs for any reason, we will send in another team member who will pick up where they left off. All available information will be handed off to the new sitter. They will reach out to you by way of introduction. Any clarification needed at that time can be discussed between you and your sitter. The entire process will be overseen by the supervisor.

Do you send updates?

All. The. Time. Your sitter will send you regular updates with photos, and of course they will be in touch if any emergency should arise. The frequency of the updates depends on the type of service you choose. Drop in visits will generate a report each time the sitter visits your pet at home. Overnight stays usually send report at the beginning of the day, and at the end of the day to keep you up to date with what’s going on in their world. You can opt out or receive fewer updates if you’d like.

Can you stay with my pet 24 hours?

That is not a service we offer at this time. Check back with us as we continue to grow and add new services.

Can you administer medications or injections?

Yes. All of our sitters can administer oral medication, as long as your pet is open to taking their medication from someone new. A few of our sitters are experienced with injections & are happy to help you.

What’s the difference between housesitting & a drop in visit?

House Sitting involves staying overnight with your pet(s). Your sitter will live at your house while you’re gone, much like you would if you were home, though the sitter may be out for up to 4 hours at a time during the day, unless otherwise agreed upon between you and your sitter. A Drop-in Visit is just what it sounds like. Your sitter will come by for a 30, or an optional 60 minute visit to care for your pet as instructed by you.

What if I have delays while traveling? Can you still care for my pet?

We’ve got you covered! No need to worry about your pets back home. If your sitter is unable to stay on due to your delay, another sitter will be provided and all necessary information regarding your pet’s care will be handed off between them. You will be informed/introduced to your new sitter when they take over.

What motivated you to do this kind of work?

That’s a great question to ask your sitter at your Meet & Greet! Personally, I began pet sitting as a way to feel needed again once my kids grew up and got on with their lives. It seemed a natural fit since I’ve always been fairly obsessed with dogs. I’d also learned quite a lot with my own pets & I’ve always found animal behavior to be fascinating. It was a great combination!
